Types of Massage

Swedish Massage

This type of massage helps with relaxation, circulation and flexibility. The main goal is to flush toxins out of the system while increasing the nourishment received by muscle cells.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers.  The particulars of the massage are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice and are often focused on a particular troublesome area like a knee or shoulder.

Neuromuscular Massage

Neuromuscular massage is an intense form of bodywork that consists of focused, concentrated massage on one specific area of the body. The pressure may continue for a period of up to thirty seconds at a time and is designed to alleviate tension that extends from a “trigger point” into an entire muscle.

Deep Tissue Massage

Is used to address pain in a specific area by working the deeper layers of muscles.  The main goal is to break up adhesions in the muscle tissue and to increase circulation and lymph flow to that area.  This type of massage is good for:

  • Muscle tension
  • Tension headaches
  • Muscle injuries
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Arthritis
  • Neck, back and chronic pain

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a technique that involves applying pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. Therapists will locate and deactivate them using finger pressure. After several treatments, the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain is reduced, range of motion is increased, tension is relieved, and flexibility & coordination are improved.
